The Difference between Striving and Striding

Why is this so powerful? First of all we are all striving for something. Striving means we are fighting, we’re grinding, pushing hard, fighting for something we are trying to accomplish. A lot of times we put a lot of focus and energy into getting that done and we spend a lot of personal resources, finances, emotional resources, and we go hard. The challenge with striving as a consistent habit is that you can burn out easy.
The expectation of speed is that most people want it fast and the problem with that is you can get it fast but you can lose it fast because typically when you go fast, you are jumping over things you need to learn and blowing by things that we really need to understand. So there are things that speed does not help you with. So in our striving we sometimes forget this isn’t a 100 yard dash. The ones that have the most success are the ones who are STRIDING. So what’s the difference, striving is pushing and grinding, but when you think about Striding, it’s the person who is taking long, even steps that go into a very purposeful direction. You can sustain Strides and you can measure those, you can pace yourself, and when you stride in your business and your success, then you have the potential to stay in the game longer until you achieve success that is longer lasting.
So if you truly want long term success, I think that there is a balance of both. There’s a time when you need to run hard, but you also need to appreciate time when you just need to walk. You need to get an even pace and stop focusing on everything happening right now. We live in a Microwave society, we live in a convenience society, walking around with our smart phones, and with a touch of button, we can pretty much have anything we want, instantly.
The instant mentality is hurting a lot of us. We need to slow down some.
We need to pace yourself and stop sprinting to the results.
