Mind Over Mattress

Let’s talk about how so many people choke the life out of their dreams between the sheets and covers.
A little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to rest, and poverty will come upon you like a robber.
My question to you is, Are you really well rested? Do you get a lot of downtime to chill? Do you carve out recreation on a regular basis? Would I find you with your feet up, with your mind up, with your attitude up? In one of those really chilled out moments? Do you find yourself in that space every single week?
Do you have Friday brain? In other words, come Tuesday or Wednesday your thinking about the weekend?
Can you relate to any of this? If so, then you my friend, might be suffering from the debilitating disease called laziness, and your mattress could be murdering all of your purpose. For some it’s mind over mattress.
If you find yourself well rested all of the time, you are probably not hitting your goals. I’m not talking about sleep deprivation, I’m not talking about losing sleep to the point of effective your driving, your focus, I’m talking about sleeping in a little bit on Saturday morning. Maybe you’ve been doing this for the full calendar year, maybe you like leisure just a little too much. If I lean in close enough, I can hear your brain snoring.
You need to wake up, your life is passing you by. Most people will not hit their goals because sleep means more to you then action. Relaxation means more to you then getting into the gym or working out or studying harder or perfecting your craft. Scrolling up and down Facebook-that is leisure. Social Media is leisure. Checking your e-mail all day is also leisure. You may not realize it but checking e-mail all day throughout the day is eating away at your potential.
I’m challenging you today that you just might be sleeping your life away.
Between the sheets and covers, whether literal or metaphoric, there are some things that are tangled up in your sheets and covers because you want to chill out, you want to relax, you feel like you deserve a vacation every single freaking month.
I’m not saying there is nothing wrong with leisure or that you can’t relax.
Just take a moment, think of Oprah Winfrey, what do you think she is doing right now? Is she sleeping in, did she rollover and hit the snooze several times? Do you think she is scrolling Facebook? Do you think Oprah is spending her entire Saturday with the girls shopping? Pick the successful person of your choice, what are they doing right now?
One of the biggest obstacles in helping people to get success is not because you void access to information, you have plenty of access. You can Google almost anything. There are tons of access but when you lay down before a person a choice, to chill, to relax, to have leisure, or to outright sleep, put that in front of them or put the work it takes to get that thing that they say they want that will actually lead to some legitimate rest or just some chilling, they will choose the chilling every single time.
Well, maybe not every single time but a good majority of the time.
So when you keep hitting the snooze, A little sleep, A little slumber, A little folding of the hands to rest, folding of the hands to chill and poverty will come upon you like a robber. Think about a Robber. Does a robber announce himself? He creeps up on you doesn’t he? And the next thing you know, he’s on you. Poverty has crept up on a lot of people because they are tangled up in the sheets and covers. A Mattress is murdering your potential.
Wake the Hell Up! Because one of these days, you will lay down and not get up. You will exit this planet.
Only about 87% of Americans live to the age of 65 and about 62% live to the age of 80 and beyond. Think about this, if I am at the higher end of the numbers, so I’m in the 62% that can live to 80 and beyond, that means I have 23 summers left and that’s not a lot. Now if your older than me and we put you on that same timeline, you have even less than me.
Now we all know a lot can change but today, I got up in my right mind, I was able to walk around and do what I needed to do but guess what? Time is not on my side and it’s not on your side. For all the chilling and relaxing you are putting forth because you think you got time….You don’t got time!
The truth is, you might not make it to 65, 75 or 80 and even if you do, who says your going to make it like you do right now. Things happen while you’re chilling. Life is drifting by because you like to chill, relax….well keep doing it and you will find yourself drifting out to the deep ocean of poverty, the deep ocean of lack, the deep ocean of time gone that you can’t get back.
So although it is important to have down time, it’s important to rest and relax, some have a over active chill factor. Take some maturity medication, and pull it back into order.
If you’re not getting enough rest, it’s probably your diet or hydration or something is off.
So if your not at the level you want to be at, untangle yourself from the sheets and covers and get to work.
